Jazz

Jazz classes are based on the Associated Dance Arts for Professional Teachers or ADAPT (www.adaptsyllabus.com) syllabus. This certified syllabus is designed to develop proper technique and provide an excellent foundation for both the competitive and recreational dancer. Jazz classes are high energy and introduce students to new and exciting steps and combinations.

The ADAPT dance syllabus offers yearly examinations for those who meet the required standard. Examinations encourage students to reach their personal best by setting goals, while enjoying quality and technical dance training. Through ADAPT Syllabus training, dance exams help to maintain dance potential throughout all the dance training years. Examinations and training help students build stronger character, integrity and high lasting moral values for their future.

Tap

Tap classes are based on the Associated Dance Arts for Professional Teachers or ADAPT (www.adaptsyllabus.com) syllabus. This certified syllabus is designed to develop proper technique and provide an excellent foundation for both the competitive and recreational dancer. Tap classes are based upon the technique and style of Rhythm Tap and Broadway Musicals. This system of tap dancing encourages technical excellence, clarity, shading, syncopation and rhythmic patterning.

Examinations encourage students to reach their personal best by setting goals, while enjoying quality and technical dance training. Through ADAPT Syllabus training, dance exams help to maintain dance potential throughout all the dance training years. Ballet

Ballet classes are based on the Royal Academy of Dance or RAD (www.radcanada.org) syllabus. The RAD is the world’s largest examining and teacher education organization of classical ballet. The carefully designed syllabus benefits the professionally oriented student as well as the recreational student. There are opportunities for yearly examinations at the grade and vocational levels for those who meet the required standard. As an awarding body, the Royal Academy of Dance Examinations Board offers an internationally recognized portfolio of examinations and assessments. They are designed to motivate and encourage students of all ages and levels of ability, through a systematic measurement of progress and attainment.

Pointe/Demi Pointe

Pointe classes are by invitation only, as a dancer need a certain amount of strength in the foot and ankle in order to safely perform pointe work. Pointe classes are based on the Royal Academy of Dance or RAD (www.radcanada.org) syllabus.

Lyrical/Contemporary

Lyrical and Contemporary classes are a blending of ballet, jazz, and modern dance. The dancer takes on a stronger acting role and tells a story through the use of dance technique, movement and emotions.

Hip Hop

Hip hop is a street style of dance often performed to hip hop music. It includes a wide range of styles, primarily breaking, locking, and popping. Hip hop dancing is an ideal way to express ones creativity. It represents body movements that go with the beat and rhythm of hip hop music.

Musical Theatre

Musical Theatre is a unique form of dance developed by the late Jack Cole and made popular by the great Broadway Choreographers Bob Fosse, Jerome Robbins, Michael Bennett, Gower Champion and others. It is a uniquely blended and stylized technique developed for the Broadway stage. The acting, singing and dancing all contribute to telling a story. Students will learn about different musicals and the different aspects involved in a musical.

Mom and Me

Mom and Me classes offer an opportunity for parents and children to dance together. This class will get you moving, increase muscle control, fine and gross motor skills, development, coordination and balance. Children will gain spatial and perceptual awareness and self-expression. The class encourages early socialization, sharing and taking turns, accepting new environments, following directions and cooperation. All of this while having fun, dancing and listening to music!

Creative Movement

Creative movement is designed to explore natural musical responses, enjoy a variety of dance fundamentals and develop confidence in movement and mime. The teachers are highly skilled and experienced, which ensure that classes are presented in a warm and caring atmosphere where each child’s experience can be a healthy and happy one.

Pre-Ballet

Pre-ballet focuses on the joy of movement and the excitement of expressing oneself in an artistic way. Students learn basic ballet technique to prepare them for future studies.

Pre-Jazz

Pre-jazz focuses on the joy of movement and the excitement of expressing oneself to upbeat music. Students learn basic jazz technique to prepare them for future studies.

Pre-Tap

Pre-tap focuses on the joy of movement, rhythm and the excitement of expressing oneself to upbeat music. Students learn basic tap technique and rhythms to prepare them for future studies.

Bboy

Bboy classes focus on four main elements; toprock, downrock, power moves and freezes/suicides. Students learn move and tricks to hip hop and remixed music. Classes will often have battles between two individuals or groups.

AcroDance

AcroDance is a style of Acrobatics used specifically for dancers. It is a genre of dance which incorporates elements of gymnastics, jazz, balancing, tumbling, and basic contortion. Students learn Acrobatic tricks such as handstands, cartwheels, chest stands, elbow stands, walkovers, side and front aerials and tumbling. Trick movements are usually executed slowly to emphasize gracefulness, body lines and picturesque extension. To master an AcroDance trick, students must develop a good foundation of strength and flexibility, thus emphasis is placed on extensive conditioning and stretch and strength training. When students are learning new tricks, the instructor utilizes professional spotting techniques; which is necessary to ensure safety and build confidence.

Drama

Students learn the essential skills needed in every drama class. They will explore cooperative play building, developing characters, focus, collaborative creation, active listening, story theatre, scene study, monologue work, movement and improvisation!

Vocal

Whether you are a talented singer, or a budding artist, Vocal Lessons are for you! Learn the basic foundations of singing: proper breath control, support, tone, resonance and care for the voice. Students will learn to sing as individuals and as part of an ensemble. Students will also learn the words, stories and history behind each song, while exploring their own style and interpretation of the song. This includes finding the theatricality and expression of the song.
